国防部：中美两军关系应当好两国关系发展的稳定基石
The MND: China-US Military Relationship Should Serve as a Cornerstone for Stability in the Overall Relations
11月28日下午，国防部举行例行记者会，国防部新闻局局长、国防部新闻发言人吴谦大校答记者问。
记者：近日，习近平主席在秘鲁利马同美国总统拜登举行会晤。在此背景下，请介绍中方对下一步发展中美两军关系的看法。
Question: Recently, President Xi Jinping met with US President Joe Biden in Lima, Peru. Against this backdrop, please brief us on China’s views on the future China-US military relationship.
吴谦：习主席指出，中美合则两利、斗则俱伤。过去几年，两国两军关系虽然历经跌宕起伏，但也开展了对话与合作，总体实现了稳定。中美作为世界上两个大国，应该计天下利，多为当前动荡不安的世界注入确定性、提供正能量。希望美方同我们相向而行，以积极理性的态度看待中国和中国军队的发展，把以和为贵、以稳为重、以信为本作为两军交往的基本遵循，在平等和尊重基础上，构建不冲突不对抗、开放务实合作、逐步积累互信的两军关系，真正当好两国关系发展的稳定基石。
Wu Qian: President Xi points out that China and the US will gain from cooperation and lose from confrontation. Despite all the ups and downs in the China-US relations over the past several years, the two militaries maintained some dialogues and cooperation and kept a generally stable relationship. As two major countries in the world, China and the US should bear in mind the greater good, and inject more certainty and positive energy into a turbulent world. We hope the US side can work with us towards a same direction, take a positive and rational view of the growth of China and the Chinese military, and prioritize peace, stability and credibility as the basic principles of mil-mil engagement. On the basis of equality and respect, the two sides should build a mil-to-mil relationship featuring non-conflict and non-confrontation, open and substantive cooperation and gradual accumulation of mutual trust, so as to truly serve as a cornerstone for stability in the overall China-US relations.
