Hu Yuting, male, of Han ethnicity, was born in July 1964 in Wutai County, Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province. He is a graduate of Peking University, one of China’s top universities under the “985” and “211” projects. He holds a Bachelor's degree, a Master's degree in Engineering, and an Executive MBA. Hu began his professional career in August 1986 and joined the Communist Party of China in July 1986. He currently serves as a member of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Deputy Secretary of the Jilin Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Provincial Science and Technology Committee, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the Jilin Provincial Government, and Governor of Jilin Province. According to Jilin Daily, the first meeting of the Jilin Provincial Science and Technology Committee was recently held, and Governor Hu Yuting attended the meeting as the committee’s Director. In July 2011, Hu transitioned from working in a state-owned enterprise to local government, serving as a member of the Standing Committee of the Datong Municipal Party Committee and Vice Mayor of Datong. From 2008 to 2013, Geng Yanbo was the mayor of Datong City in Shanxi Province, where he initiated extensive reforms to restore the ancient city of Datong. Geng became widely known as a "star mayor" due to his straightforward personality and tough leadership style. According to Hu Yuting’s official biography, from 2011 to 2012, he served as a member of the Standing Committee of the Datong Municipal Party Committee and Vice Mayor (at the level of department director), working as Geng Yanbo’s deputy during Geng’s tenure as mayor. Though their time working together was brief, they were frequently mentioned together in media reports.
