從一枚寫給英國駐台南胡立檣領事的信封談起
Discussion from A Cover Sent to British Consulate in Tainan---Mr. Richard Hurst

Some days ago, my philatelic friend, Mr. Hsu Te-Shan，sent me a photo of a 1890s ‘ cover sent to British consulate in Tainan---Mr. Richard Hurst. Prof. Ho huei-Ching requested the author to see whether I could write something about this cover. Therefore, the author did some research and also visited the National Archives (UK) twice to try to find some information. Luckily the author found a few chops used by British Consulates in Tainan, Tamsui and Shanghai in early 1890s and some other useful information. Although the author could not know the exact date for this cover and why the chops used on the cover are different from what the author found in the Archives, the author still would like to share the information with my friends and discuss this cover and British Consulate in Tainan---Mr. Richard Hurst. It is my hope that this article can attract more friends to study the cover in order to find the answer to the questions soon.
前幾天，我的郵友許德杉先生髮我一張1890年代寄給英國駐台南領事館胡立檣領事的信封照片。何輝慶教授請筆者看看是否可以為此封寫點東西。為此，筆者查找了一些資料，並兩次前往英國國家檔案館試圖查詢一些有關資訊。幸運的是，筆者找到了幾枚英國駐台南、淡水和上海領事館使用的戳記以及其他一些有用之資訊。雖然作者無法得知此封的確切郵寄日期以及為什麼封上使用的戳記與作者在檔案中找到的有差異，但作者仍然願意與郵友分享這些資訊並探討此封和英國台南領事館胡立檣領事。筆者希望此文能吸引更多的朋友關注和研究此封,以便能儘早找到答案。
