Develop and implement Common Core State Standards-aligned units of study and lessons that build and integrate rigorous, hands-on, inquiry-based and student-centered learning experiences in Mandarin Chinese and all standard subjects (i.e. language arts, mathematics, social science, science) Using knowledge of dual-immersion and Chinese language development education, personalize learning by teaching effectively to the diversity of students in K-5 classroom and ensuring student mastery of academic skills Assess and analyze student achievement using a variety of means to collect and report on data, make strategic planning decisions, and tailor instruction to meet individual student needs Use educational technology, including Google apps to support instruction, develop and deliver content and skill benchmarks, organize instructional materials, and track student progress Establish a strong classroom culture for learning that is positive, inclusive, restorative, and contributes to the broader school community Provide access and ensure results for all students (i.e. above and below grade level proficiency, with IEP’s, English Learners) and integrate needed differentiation, interventions, accommodations, and extensions Actively collaborate with all colleagues, contribute pedagogical knowledge and expertise, and provide shared stewardship of the school Plan and pursue a program of personal professional growth and participate in both internal and external professional development activities Build meaningful relationships and communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and other school stakeholders Maintain a high-level of professionalism including meeting deadlines and commitments to self and the community, demonstrating humility, strong work ethics, sense of humor, and solutions-oriented attitude Maintain proficiency in English May participate in summer program teaching or professional learning or curriculum development Use interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students, colleagues and families Remain flexible and adaptable to change while working in a dynamic, creative start-up learning environment that prioritizes project-based learning, social-emotional learning, personalized learning, service learning and an interdisciplinary curriculum Learn new and innovative teaching practices to drive professional growth
B.A. or B.S. Hold (or be eligible for) relevant California Credential (which may include holding a transferable out of state equivalency) Fluency in Mandarin Chinese (simplified and pinyin systems) Must undergo background checks
