Thank you to everyone who joined us last Saturday for the launch and bird-watching event celebrating our latest issue of The World of Chinese magazine! We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
A special thanks to our co-organizer, the Beijing-based nature education startup WildWonder, for guiding the two-hour bird-watching tour. This event was inspired by our new issue, “Back to the Wild.”
Despite the cloudy morning and light drizzle, we spotted more than a dozen birds in Chaoyang Park, including the Chinese blackbird, spotted dove, white-cheeked starling, great spotted woodpecker, and grey heron.
According to Zhang Runchao, a guide from WildWonder, there are over 500 bird species in Beijing, primarily migratory ones. On clearer autumn and winter days, people can observe up to 30 species during a typical two-hour tour in Chaoyang Park, the largest urban park in the capital’s downtown Chaoyang district.
