Ivan Shishkin was a 19th century Russian landscape painter. Shishkin was a painter of the Peredvizhniki and realist school. The 1832 was born to a merchant family in Yelabuga. Shishkin was impressed by the natural beauty of his boyhood in the province of Wiat, where he later became a famous landscape painter, named Shishkin in honor of an asteroid he released in 1978.
