On September 20, InnoTrans 2022 was kicked off again in Berlin, Germany after its previous session that happened four years ago. Themed on “A Better Future, A Smarter Way”, CRRC exhibited a number of star products and shared with the world its “green and intelligent” solutions.
In the more than 600m2 booth, visitors were deeply attracted by the 600 km/h high-speed maglev system, high-speed intelligent EMU, urban rail transit passenger transport system solutions, multimodal transport and intelligent heavy freight solutions, hydrogen fuel cell power platform, hybrid locomotive platform of low emission solutions, rail transit core components high efficiency system, and other system platforms.
Intelligent Integration Decodes Intelligent Application
Working hard to develop intelligent technologies of rail transit, CRRC facilitates the shift from “people adapting to train” to “train adapting to people”, from production paradigm to service paradigm, and from passive service to intelligent service. The results of its efforts were mostly represened by the intelligent integrated system solution to 600 km/h high-speed maglev system and intelligent EMU exhibited at In InnoTrans 2022.
The 600 km/h high-speed maglev system, nicknamed as “land aircraft”, can realize GoA3-level automatic operation, full early warning, intelligent control and scheduling. Also equipped with a PHM(fault prediction and health management system) and disaster early warning scheme covering the whole system, it secures integrated intelligent operation and maintenance of the whole lifecycle automatic driving, real-time monitoring, automatic early warning and remote decision-making.
Smart EMU started to operate on the Beijing-Zhangjiakou high-speed railway in December 2019, becoming the first in the world to drive at 350 km/h in the autopilot approach. The train, equipped with more than 1,200 sensors and 2,718 monitoring points, has built an integrated safety monitoring system to realize the intelligent state assessment of key components, fault diagnosis and early warning & alarm, accurate fault positioning, and dynamic prediction of spare parts, which can ensure the safe operation of the train in an all-round way. At the same time, the train also brings comfortable experience to passengers thanks to the intelligent light, temperature adjustment, intelligent information and entertainment interactive services.
In terms of cargo transport, CRRC exhibited a few intelligent products, such as intelligent suspended rail system and highway & rail transport vehicles, which help realize multi-modal transport and intelligent heavy load. In the field of urban rail transit, CRRC displayed dimensional and multi-level intelligent rail transit passenger vehicle products, and intelligent products such as vehicles, signals and power supply, as well as intelligent operation and maintenance services.

Green Integration Brings Zero-carbon Future within Reach
Nowadays,environmental protection and energy efficiency have become major considerations in rail transit equipment R&D. CRRC is committed to becoming the leader in green manufacturing, the creator of green life and the pioneer of green development. At InnoTrans 2022, CRRC exhibited its green technology in hydrogen energy utilization, low emission of locomotives and high efficiency utilization of core components.
Based on the existing platform technology, CRRC can freely combine low-emission diesel engine, hydrogen energy fuel cell, power battery, pantograph, natural gas engine and other power packages, thus forming the locomotive products with different energy systems and different power combinations. Especially, CRRC has successfully developed many products using hydrogen energy, such as hydrogen energy tram and hydrogen fuel cell hybrid electric locomotive. The combination of hydrogen fuel cell and power cell makes the zero-carbon goal a reality.
Hydrogen energy tram only takes five minutes to fill with hydrogen and gain driving range of about 100km. As a green solution suitable for urban commuting and scenic spot tourism, the product has been realized in mass commercial operation in Foshan, China. Hydrogen fuel cell hybrid locomotives can be used for coal, ore, chemical, steel and ports in cargo transit, marshalling and short-distance trunk traction. Among them, the 1400kW power class locomotive is equipped with the 400kW fuel cell system developed by CRRCin an innovative way, the maximum output power of a single reactor is 125kW, and the on-board hydrogen storage capacity can reach 200kg. The 700kW power class locomotive has been operating safely for more than 16,000 kilometers in China, and has withstood the low temperature at minus 30℃.
In addition, in terms of the efficient utilization of core parts such as vehicle running part, traction transmission and braking, CRRC strives to achieve lightweight and modular design, low-carbon manufacturing link, low-energy consumption and high efficiency in the application process. The ARCO bogie system, launched globally for the first time at InnoTrans2022, is welding-free and pollution-free. The use of new materials such as carbon fiber and graphene also makes the product more efficient.
CRRC Offers Best “Butler-like” Service for Customized Products
Relying on high-end equipment manufacturing core technology advantage, CRRC integrates low carbon and digital technology, and combines resources along the whole industrial chain. Starting with master design, it optimizes and integrates traditional rail transit projects in all aspects including vehicle manufacturing, project planning, engineering construction, operation maintenance. On the one hand, CRRC provides customers with design, construction, operation integration of rail transit system solutions; on the other hand, it provides digital and intelligent rail transit service in full life cycle.
During the InnoTrans2022, CRRC introduced customized services with its own advantages and characteristics. According to the urban economic situation, it provides planning, funding, financing assistance, operation consultation, product customization and other operation plans, so as to guide user needs, constantly innovate business models and create value for users.
CRRC actively promotes data sharing and intelligent integration, and provides users with system solutions on such platforms as “vehicle-ground integration” electromechanical system and standard urban rail trains. At the same time, CRRC has experience in design, R&D, manufacturing and maintenance of the full-spectrum rail transit products, providing users with the “butler-like” service in the whole life cycle.
In China, CRRC has provided integrated system solutions and full-life-cycle services for many cities, and has accumulated rich project experience. Internationally, in 2020, CRRC independently set up consortium to win the bid for the PPP project of Mexico City Line 1, which was selected as UNDP “Top 10 PPP Projects” with high social and environmental benefits.
In the physical exhibition area, electric locomotive with multiple current systems was most favored. The locomotive is compatible with AC25kV and AC15kV power supply systems, and the energy storage module provides the locomotive with short-distance wireless area transportation capacity, which can meet the interconnection needs of many European countries, thus providing customers with efficient, economical and environment-friendly one-stop freight traction solutions. The locomotive has been applied in Hungary.As the largest and most influential rail transit event in the world, InnoTrans 2022 attracted more than 3,000 exhibitors from over 60 countries, which was attended by professional visitors from 149 countries and regions.
