2024年7月27日，在印度新德里召开的联合国教科文组织第46届世界遗产大会通过决议，将“北京中轴线——中国理想都城秩序的杰作”列入《世界遗产名录》。至此，中国世界遗产总数达到59项。
On July 27, 2024, at the 46th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee held in New Delhi, India, a resolution was passed to include the "Beijing Central Axis – A Building Ensemble Exhibiting the Ideal Order of the Chinese Capital" in the World Heritage List. This addition brings the total number of World Heritage Sites in China to 59.
“北京中轴线”纵贯北京老城南北，始建于13世纪，形成于16世纪，此后经不断演进发展，形成今天全长7.8公里、世界上最长的城市轴线。“北京中轴线”由古代皇家宫苑建筑、古代皇家祭祀建筑、古代城市管理设施、国家礼仪和公共建筑以及居中道路遗存等五大类遗存共同组成，其选址、格局、城市形态和设计体现了《周礼·考工记》所记载的理想都城范式，展现了中国古代王朝制度和城市规划传统，见证了北京城市的发展演变。
Running north to south through the heart of historical Beijing, Beijing Central Axis is currently the world's longest city central axis, with a total length of 7.8 kilometers. It was initially constructed in the 13th century and improved in the 16th century. The Central Axis consists of former imperial palaces and gardens, sacrificial structures, and ceremonial and public buildings. The location, layout, urban pattern, roads and design showcase the ideal capital city as prescribed in the Kaogongji, an ancient text known as the Book of Diverse Crafts. Together they bears testimony to the evolution of the city and exhibits evidence of the imperial dynastic system and urban planning traditions of China.
