8 November 2024, Shanghai - On November 5, the 7th China International Import Expo (hereafter referred to as "CIIE") officially opened in Shanghai. JLR, the UK's largest auto manufacturer, participated in the event for the seventh consecutive year, presenting a full range of imported models from its four distinct brand families in the Automotive Pavilion in Hall 2.1. The company's participation underscores JLR's ongoing commitment to deepening its presence in China and promoting high-quality development.

Dame Caroline Wilson DCMG, British Ambassador to China, visited the JLR booth and engaged with JLR Hope School representatives, one of the company's key CSR programs. She stated, "JLR has for many years been a leading representative of British enterprises in China and is deeply committed to this market.  The UK economy benefits when British firms and investors like JLR succeed in China.  At this year's CIIE, I had the pleasure of seeing the Formula E champion-winning Jaguar I-TYPE 6 and meeting teachers and children from the JLR Yunnan Hope School. It showed again how companies like JLR are a vital part of industrial, innovation and cultural exchange between our countries.”

Tim Howard, Chief Financial Officer of JLR China, stated, "The CIIE serves as an open stage for fostering mutually beneficial cooperation between China and the world, and it is a crucial platform for us to deepen our localisation in the Chinese market. Our participation in the CIIE for seven consecutive years underlines JLR's unwavering commitment to China and reaffirms our strong confidence in advancing innovation and corporate social responsibility within the country. Looking ahead, JLR will continue to offer a 'Modern Luxury' product and service experience tailored for discerning Chinese customers, while also acting as a bridge for the development of Sino-British economic, trade, and cultural exchanges.”

Full range of imported models showcasing cutting-edge electrification technology

As JLR steadily advances its "Reimagine" strategy, it continues to strive for sustainable, electrified mobility and solid growth. Last year, JLR introduced new measures for this strategy, including its House of Brands, which focuses on four distinct brands: Range Rover, Defender, Discovery, and Jaguar. This approach enhances each brand's unique design and elevates the distinct identities of each family.

Guided by the House of Brands approach, nine models from JLR's four brand families were showcased together. With the "Lead by Example" Range Rover, "Embrace the Impossible" Defender, the Discovery "Enjoy Every Moment Together", and the Jaguar embodying "Inspire Like No Other", each brand vividly demonstrates the extraordinary strength of Modern Luxury.

Additionally, the Jaguar I-TYPE 6 made its public debut at CIIE. In 2024, it helped Jaguar TCS Racing win the ABB FIA Formula E Teams' World Championship for the first time. JLR is utilising electric and sustainable technologies in the "Race to Innovate," empowering the next generation of production vehicles and contributing to Jaguar's transformation into an all-electric modern luxury brand by 2025 through racing.

Strengthening local innovation to promote China's development opportunities

Since the launch of the House of Brands approach, JLR has implemented a series of localisation initiatives in China aimed at enhancing product touchpoints, customer service, and user experiences to solidify each brand's leadership in its respective segments. In the premium luxury SUV segment (priced over one million RMB) from January to September 2024, JLR's market share exceeded 30%, with Defender ranking second. Furthermore, Range Rover continued to lead the way in the premium luxury SUV segment priced at 1.5 million RMB and above, ranking 1st in sales for 21 consecutive months since 2023.
Industry authorities have also recognised JLR's high-quality products and customer service. Multiple Defender, Range Rover, and Range Rover Sport models rank among the top in third-party studies for new car quality, product appeal, after-sales service, and intelligent experience.

JLR is steadily advancing its corporate vision by deepening local investments, as shown in the recent announcement of its new joint venture collaboration model with Chery. In June of this year, JLR and Chery Automobile signed a Letter of Intent to license the Freelander brand to Chery Jaguar Land Rover, to fuel the creation of electric vehicles in China. This collaboration aims to provide consumers with more diverse choices and to make a mutually beneficial, win-win development landscape by leveraging both parties' complementary strengths.

Leveraging the 10th anniversary of the "Dream Fund" to promote Sino-British cultural exchange

JLR actively explores new dimensions of value creation in China to create lasting societal benefits, notably in corporate social responsibility. In 2014, JLR China cooperated with the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation to establish the "China Soong Ching Ling Foundation JLR China Children & Youth Dream Fund" - the first CSR fund in the Chinese auto industry dedicated to helping children. Over the past decade, JLR has invested over 100 million RMB, benefiting more than 700,000 Chinese youths. To mark the Dream Fund's 10th anniversary, JLR invited teachers and students from the JLR Hope School to Shanghai for this year's CIIE, where they engaged in knowledge-sharing, interactive activities, and cultural exchanges. Through the CIIE platform, these students gained a broader global perspective and could share their journeys in an open and global forum.

After 14 years of development in China, the country has become a key front for JLR's global business growth and strategic implementation. JLR has already confirmed its participation in the 8th CIIE next year and will continue to leverage CIIE as a platform for gaining insights into the evolving Chinese market and consumer trends. In collaboration with local partners, the company will continue to draw on its systematic capabilities and innovative strengths, contribute to China's auto industry's sustainable development and write a new chapter on Sino-British cultural exchange and cooperation.
