博士生导师Dr. Zhaojun Wang将于2025年秋季入职。导师目前为史密森学会环境研究中心的研究员,拥有特拉华大学海洋政策博士学位、南开大学物流工程硕士学位和大连海事大学航运管理学士学位。Dr. Wang 的研究专注于人与自然耦合系统中的航运环境管理问题,包括生物入侵、大气排放、塑料污染、水污染、极地环境等,研究方法以多学科交叉为主,涵盖贸易、网络分析、经济学、统计和生态学等。导师与国际海事组织、联邦和州政府及国内外多所高校与研究所合作密切,学生将得到大力支持发展自己的研究方向,并有机会与来自不同领域的学者和专家合作。

The Department of Marine and Coastal Environmental Science at Texas A&M University at Galveston is recruiting fully funded Ph.D. students for Fall 2025. Research areas include (but are not limited to) marine management, environmental economics/policy, marine policy, environmental and public health, trade, shipping, climate change, biological invasions, and decision analysis. Applicants with a background and interest in these fields, who are open to exploring new research areas and willing to conduct interdisciplinary research, are preferred. Those who have already obtained or are close to obtaining a master’s degree will be given priority, and outstanding undergraduate students are welcome to reach out. Applicants are expected to have data manipulation and analysis experience skills and strong English communication skills.
Texas A&M University is a world-renowned public research institution located in Texas, with the Galveston campus about a 40-minute drive from downtown Houston. Texas A&M ranks 47th in the 2024 US News Best Colleges in the United States and is a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU). It is the sixth-largest public university in the United States, with strong research capabilities, and boasts 9 Nobel laureates, 3 National Medal of Science recipients, and 14 members of the National Academy of Sciences.
Dr. Zhaojun Wang will join as a faculty member in Fall 2025. Currently, Dr. Wang is a researcher at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center, holding a Ph.D. in Marine Policy from the University of Delaware, a Master’s in Logistics Engineering from Nankai University, and a Bachelor’s in Shipping Management from Dalian Maritime University. Dr. Wang’s research focuses on environmental issues associated with shipping within a coupled human-natural system, including biological invasions, atmospheric emissions, marine plastics, water discharge, and polar environment. Dr. Wang’s approach is multidisciplinary, incorporating trade, network analysis, economics, statistics, and ecology. Dr. Wang collaborates with the International Maritime Organization, federal and state governments, and research institutions worldwide. Students will have support to develop their own research direction and have opportunities to work with scholars and practitioners from diverse fields.
