OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST
Under the authority of Director of UNESCO Regional Office for East Asia, and the direct supervision of the National Professional Officer for Communication and Information, the incumbent shall provide communications support, and carry out the following duties and responsibilities:
1. Contribute to the production of information materials for public awareness campaigns and for the preparation of the in-house annual reports, newsletters and information kits by contributing to articles, reports and other information gathered from various sources, in consultation with UNESCO Division for Communications and Public Engagement (CPE) as required. Ensuring all content is clear, concise, and accessible, adhering to UNESCO communication guidelines and the UN disability-inclusive communication guidelines.
2. Distribute press statements and similar information to media and partners in the Regional Office, to other field offices as well as to Headquarters.
3. Edit and create short videos in line with communication strategies for the UNESCO Beijing Office's social media channels (e.g., WeChat video channel). This may involve tasks like clipping footage, adding text overlays and subtitles, and ensuring accessibility features like captions.
4. Coordinate interview requests and assist with raising visibility of the office through website updates, social media and press releases etc., considering diverse audiences.
5. Liaise with in-house graphic designer and printing suppliers concerning publications and brochures published by the Office, ensuring accessibility considerations are incorporated during the design process.
6. Provide support to UNESCO's visibility events as needed, including informal photography.
7. Provide administrative support to the Director’s Office, including assistance for the Director’s appointments, keeping track of mail, incoming calls or requests, documentation, e-filing, and any other necessary backstopping.
8. Undertake any other assignments as requested by the Director and the supervisor.
EDUCATION
University degree, secondary, technical and/or vocational training.
A minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience.
Experience in the area of communication, media, public relations, information and coordination.
Demonstrating/safeguarding ethics and integrity; Demonstrating corporate knowledge and sound judgment; Self-development, initiative-taking; Facilitating and encouraging open communication in the team, communicating effectively; Creating synergies through self-control; Managing conflict; Capacity to work in a team as well as independently; Operates in compliance with UNESCO's rules and regulations.
Excellent knowledge of English and Mandarin (oral and written).
EDUCATION
Specialized training/certification in Administration, Management, Public Relations, International Relations, Languages, communication, media and information.
Of the 4 years relevant experience, at least 2 years working experience in the area of international organizations or diplomatic bodies;
Relevant professional experience in project administration as well as communication with partners.
Knowledge of UNESCO administrative guidelines and SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Salesforce tools (iRIS, CORE, DUO, etc.).
