About this position
The Institute for Basic Science (IBS) invites applications for the 2024 IBS Young Scientist Fellowship (YSF). This fellowship offers early-career researchers the opportunity to conduct independent research at IBS, with access to state-of-the-art research infrastructure and collaboration with leading researchers.
The Discrete Mathematics Group (DIMAG) has an opening for this fellowship.
Budget: Up to KRW 180 million per year. DIMAG, led by Sang-il Oum, is part of IBS and is located in Daejeon, South Korea.

Requirement
Ph.D. obtained no earlier than 1 January 2017 or candidates under the age of 40 (born no earlier than 1 January 1984).
Ph.D. candidates must have their degree conferred no later than 30 June 2025.
Benefits:
Full-time position with 100% research participation.
Annual funding: KRW 150–300 million (up to KRW 180 million for theoretical fields and up to KRW 300 million for experimental fields).
Salary: KRW 60–70 million.
Appointment for three years, with the possibility of a two-year extension based on performance.
Research facilities: Access to IBS’s advanced research infrastructure.

Interviews: March – April 2025
Final results notification: June 2025
Research commencement: Between 1 July – 16 December 2025.
