On October 24, Secretary General Zhang Jun visited SABIC Technology Center in Shanghai, which also serves as a regional hub for SABIC - a Corporate Board Member and Honorary Strategic Partner of Boao Forum for Asia.
In meeting with Justin Wang, SABIC Vice President and Regional Head of Greater China, Zhang asked Wang to convey his warm regards to Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Fageeh, BFA Board Director and SABIC CEO and Executive Member of the Board, and appreciation to SABIC and Mr. Al-Fageeh himself for the long-stand support for BFA, expressing his expectation to join Mr. Al-Fageeh for strategic discussion on deepening cooperation in the field of sustainable development.
The SG observed the multiple challenges and complexity faced by the world, stressing on BFA’s commitments to the original aspiration to promote regional cooperation with the Asian responsibilities and a global vision, featuring an open economy, regional integration, and high-quality sustainable development. BFA aims to become an important platform to chart the course, to encourage cooperation, and to enhance trust with a view to win-win cooperation and inclusive development.
Zhang spoke highly of SABIC’s tremendous efforts in promoting industrial transformation for win-win cooperation while adapting to the drastic changes of the world as a prestigious multinational enterprise. Zhang noted that the trend of economic globalization is irreversible despite headwinds with global economy in constant reshape and rebalance, and the transformation of world configurations, international order, economic system and industrial structure becoming the reality that all countries and corporates must accept and adapt to. SABIC’s commitment to sustainable development, STI, and energy transformation is in line with BFA’s mission and purpose, and is conducive to joint efforts of all stakeholders to address global challenges and to implement the SDGs.
Zhang briefed on the preparation of the Annual Conference 2025 of Boao Forum for Asia, which reflects the cohesion of strategic thinking, i.e. precise capturing of the trend, focus on frontier issues, guidance on major issue discussion, etc., and practical endeavors, i.e. innovative event planning and design, platform building for exchanges, etc. The SG emphasized that, in exploring new dynamics of development, the BFA Annual Conference strives to promote regional integration and sustainable development, at which occasion, SABIC is expected to strengthen its ties with various parties to work against global challenges and expand the cooperation that is beneficial for all.
Wang introduced SABIC’s development in China, highlighting SABIC’s efforts in seeking development opportunities with an open mind and expanded global partnership for cooperation that benefits all stakeholders, adding that the success of SABIC in China is reproducible for multinational companies. He confirmed that SABIC’s cooperation with BFA is rewarding and that SABIC will maintain its firm support and extensive involvement of BFA’s development, in joint efforts with BFA to advance energy transition and sustainable development through expanded partnership, in which SABIC intends to enhance its own influence via the platform of BFA.
