中山大學原名國立廣東大學，是國父孫中山先生于1924年2月所創立。中山大學過去培養很多知名人士及優秀人才，部分校友遷移到香港定居，並成立了多個校友會；為了團結在港的各校友，1992年9月18 日，在香港正式成立中山大學香港校友聯合會，並由曾憲梓博士出任首任會長，選出新一屆理事會，標誌着中大校友的大聯合，大團結。校友會創立以來，一直秉承愛國、愛港、愛校的優良傳統。團結校友，聯系校友，作為廣大校友聯系母校的橋樑，發揮了應有的作用。
