Social Impact Week aims at presenting the best of the Global Shapers Community and is an opportunity for the Global Shapers Beijing II hub to mobilize with the Beijing community for greater social good through delivering deep dives into areas of critical importance to today’s world: Sustainability, China and the world, Wellness & Wellbeing. 


社会影响周旨在展示全球杰出青年社区的最佳成果,是全球杰出青年北京II社区,通过深入探讨重要领域,为更大的社会利益而努力践行的机会:包括可持续发展、中国与世界、健康与福祉领域。


This year is the first time when Beijing II hub expanded this invite to Shapers from across China and overseas to participate, and received over 60 applications. 


2024年是全球杰出青年北京II社区首次向全国及海外的社区成员发送邀约,并收到了来自全球成员的积极反馈,共收到60余份申请。


Social Impact Week 2024 will be attended by Global Shapers representing over 20 nationalities.

Passionate and enthusiastic about unlocking potential and cultivating trusted networks of exception people with vision, courage, and influence to drive positive change in the world, Sun Miao leads the Young Global Leaders and Global Shapers Community, two flagship communities of the World Economic Forum. Since 2017, Sun Miao has served various roles at the World Economic Forum, from setting global agenda on themes around environment and sustainability, economics and finance at the Annual Meeting in Davos and Annual Meeting of the New Champions, cultivating leadership modules with top universities in the world, to building long-term partnerships with multi-stakeholders for international collaboration. 


Prior to the World Economic Forum, Sun Miao was a climate policy analyst on China’s low-carbon development. She used to be an integral part of Impact Hub Stockholm to serve social enterprises community in Sweden.

United Nations Resident Coordinator

Beijing Office


Ben joined the Resident Coordinator Office in China in November 2022, where he coordinates the office’s South-South cooperation efforts and the UN in China’s work on advancing the 2030 Agenda and SDGs. 


Previously, he spent three years as the economist in the Resident Coordinator Office in Ecuador, where he worked on the economic recovery from COVID, strengthened relationships with International Financial Institutions and providing actionable economic analysis to UNCT members. 


He also spent six years at UN-DESA in the United Nations Statistics Division, where he was deeply involved in the design and implementation of the global indicator framework to monitor the Sustainable Development Goals.

Shanghai Climate Week


William Wang is the Chief Representative for Asia Pacific of Shanghai Climate Week and the Director-General of its Youth Council. Prior to his current role, William was the Chief of Staff and Commercial Director for Greater China at Oliver Wyman, Director of Business Planning at Standard Chartered, the CEO’s Special Advisor at Atrium Innovations, and the President’s Research Assistant at China Europe International Business School. He focused on public sector engagement, China market entry, and large program management during the past decade.

Chunping Xie is a Climate Economist at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), and a Visiting Senior Fellow at Grantham Research Institute at the London School of Economics and Political Science(LSE) . Holding a PhD in Energy Economics, her research interests focus on promoting clean energy transition and sustainable economic development, with multidisciplinary expertise in economics, climate policy and clean energy technologies. 


Chunping is an Associate Editor of the journal “Progress in Energy”. She also sits on the Editorial Board of “Energy Storage and Saving”, the Young Editorial Board of “Applied Energy” , and the Advisory Board of “Cell Reports Sustainability”.

Andy Mok is a Senior Research Fellow at the Center for China and Globalization where he focuses on technology and its impact on great power relations. 


His current research interests include how advances in technology affect national sovereignty such as challenges posed by cyber security threats, concentration of corporate power, norms around freedom of expression and other issues related to developing policies for effective digital governance at the national and supra-national levels.

Demi is an experienced venture investor and inspiring entrepreneur in high-tech arena and the General Partner at Vategroup, a VC fund focused on AI, TMT and Metaverse. Previously, Demi was the investment manager at HTC VIVE and founded the $18Bn Virtual Reality Venture Capital Alliance (“VRVCA”) and Co-Founder of iVReal Mixed Reality. 


Demi graduated from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications and holds an MBA degree from Georgetown University (Top Merit Scholarship). She also holds the Vice President position of Georgetown University Alumni Association Beijing Chapter. During her tenure at iVReal, she was selected into the first batch of “Swan Goose Program”, an honored overseas talents program initiated by China Government.

Yushi has been at the forefront of innovation, masterfully orchestrating the development of multilingual Text-to-Speech systems that cater to over 20 languages and serve ByteDance's AI services across the globe. Prior to ByteDance Yushi also worked on several AI projects at Google (Palo Alto, CA).


Born and nurtured in the vibrant city of Beijing, Yushi's early exposure to cultural diversity sparked a lifelong passion for exploring the intricate tapestry of languages and the rich cultural contexts they embody.


Yushi received her B.A. in Linguistics from University of California, San Diego. She then obtained her Master of Science degree from Georgetown University, where she focused on theoretical and computational linguistics, equipping her with the expertise to navigate the landscape of tech and communication.

Rare ChinaCenter for Behavior


Shiyang Li is a seasoned leader committed to catalyzing positive change by applying behavior science to environmental challenges. She oversees all institutional programs and operations aimed at promoting sustainability, drawing upon over a decade of experience in leveraging behavior science to address pressing environmental issues like wetland protection and sustainable agriculture, as well as promoting behavior adoption for climate-friendly practices. In recent years, Shiyang has been instrumental in leading the "Pride on our Plates" project, which has empowered hundreds of restaurants across China to combat food waste through the strategic application of behavioral science.


With a Master's Degree in East Asia Studies from Columbia University and another in Sociology from Renmin University, Shiyang's interdisciplinary approach underscores her deep understanding of social dynamics and behavior. Through her unwavering dedication, she continues to propel progress towards a more sustainable future, leaving an indelible mark on environmental conservation and behavior science.


Shiyang Li is a seasoned professional with a passion for making a meaningful impact in the realms of behavior science, conservation, and organizational leadership.

Born out of the World Economic Forum, the Global Shapers Community is a network of inspiring young people under the age of 33 working together to address local, regional, and global challenges. With more than 13,000 members, the Global Shapers Community spans around 500 city-based hubs in 150 countries.


The Beijing II hub is the international hub of Beijing, comprised of a diverse group of global citizens with ties connecting China to communities all over the world.


全球杰出青年社区是由世界经济论坛发起的年龄低于33岁的青年领袖网络,这些青年领袖都积极地致力于为社区发展做出贡献,齐心协力解决区域及全球面临的挑战,无论是经济和商业方面,社会方面或者性别平等。目前我们的网络已经遍布150个国家、500个城市,并拥有13000余位活跃的青年领袖。
