In 2012, at the age of 27, Reynier Hooft became a rising star on the Dutch techno scene and began performing and releasing music under the name Deniro, a DJ name that came from friends’ way of calling him, jokingly, after actor Robert Deniro. That year he released his first official techno EP, Grey, on Amsterdam's Tape Records, an upbeat and provocative release, with a precise and spare use of melody and rhythm, deeply rooted in Detroit's timeless soul music, a modern take on the 90's techno music that had been occupying his mind for so long.

Amsterdam-based electronic music label Tape Records, run by Deniro alongside Berend Kirch and Jeroen Kok, has been the home of his work, and is a niche but well-received label. The release of Grey was followed by two EPs in 2014 and 2015, and Deniro's mastery of skills has attracted the attention of Hunee, ROD, Steve Rachmad, Peggy Gou, Nina Kraviz and many others. Today his music appears in the catalogue of трип, TOKEN records, Dekmantel and many other prestigious labels.

Deniro's music is marked by distinct emotions,“I want my music to evoke an emotion in the people that listen to it. For example, with my more melodic tracks it can be happiness and a feeling of comfort. My more loopy techno tracks can bring energy to somebody on the dancefloor. My main goal with producing music is to share this good feeling that music can give with my audience. ”

多年来他一直孜孜不倦探索老式设备，他着迷于模拟合成器的音色，制造出更为温暖和渲染力的音乐。每当要在制作过程中找灵感时，Deniro还是会回去听 90 年代的作品。在他看来90年代的电子音乐是一座富矿，“哪怕是糟糕制作人手下也会诞生点燃人群的曲子”（“Even the bad producers had some bangers in the ‘90s”），因为当时音乐中的温度和律动是当下techno所遗失的。

He has been tirelessly exploring vintage gear for years, fascinated by the sound of analogue synthesizers to produce warmer and more rendered music. Whenever he's looking for inspiration in his production, Deniro still goes back to listening to the ‘90s. In his opinion, electronic music in the ‘90s was a mine of ideas, ’Even the bad producers had some bangers  in the ‘90s’, as there was a warmth and a groove that techno has lost.

“I bought lots of older gear. Discovering and collecting gear became something of an addiction.

The gear I use the most now is the Roland TR-909 and the SH-101. If all my gear got stolen I would buy these two pieces back right away. For chords and pads and stuff, I use many different synths like the Roland JP-X8 and the Oberheim Matrix 1000. I’m sharing my studio with Interstellar Funk now so I can use his gear also. My favorite synth of his I use is the Roland Jupiter 4. I use it on almost every track I make now.”

With the support of Nina Kraviz, Deniro further expanded his reach, gaining more exposure with the release of the single ‘Organized’ under Nina Kravitz label трип in 2015. 'Organezized' has all of the elements of a perfect, transcendent techno track. There's a thick, bellowing bassline that rolls from the off, other-worldly melodies and, most importantly, synth pads that sound like they've been imported from the clouds. 

In the same year, he released the EP ‘Mendoza’, and with an intuitive sense of tone, a deep passion for Detroit soul, and a profound understanding of sound, Deniro navigates through vintage equipment with meticulous precision.

Peggy Gou为Mixmag做的Cover Mix中选用了Deniro的曲目《G》，“又是一位很棒的制作人，很棒的厂牌！曲目里有强劲的酸性音色和贝斯。我真的很喜欢他的大部分曲目。”

Deniro performs at renowned electronic music festivals such as Dekmantel, Awakenings and DGTL. And his collaboration with Interstellar Funk continues to expand his reputation in the Dutch techno scene.Deniro has remained humble throughout his career, remaining authentic and unique in the electronic music scene. In reports he maintains mystery and places expression more in the music, “I had already found my passion and that was at home behind my drum machines.”
