[SEU News Network, Sept 4th] (Correspondent: Hou Daoping, photographer: Liu Li) On September 2nd, the SEU-EFREI Opening Ceremony for the International Class of 2024 was held at the Sipailou campus. Twenty-nine students from EFREI Paris, representatives from relevant functional departments, and faculties of SEU attended the ceremony.
At the opening ceremony, representatives from several functional departments and faculties provided brief introductions. Wang Chen, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Office, introduced SEU and its efforts in internationalization, highlighting the long-term fruitful collaboration and exchanges with French institutions; Jin Jiahui, Associate Dean of the School of Computer Science and Engineering, introduced the curriculum arrangements for the computer science program; Liu Zhiyuan, Associate Dean of the National Graduate College for Elite Engineers, introduced the college’s relevant initiatives; A faculty member from SEU College of International Students introduced the precautions for study and campus life. After the ceremony, the French students toured the Sipailou campus.
Université Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas has cultivated generations of high-end professionals in fields such as law, economics, journalism, politics, etc. for France. The EFREI is a prestigious engineering school dedicated to cultivating elite professionals in the information and communication technology sectors. In 2022, EFREI joined Université Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas. Since SEU established a cooperative relationship with EFREI in 2003, the two partners have carried out student and teacher exchanges every year.
The SEU-EFREI International Class at SEU begins every fall semester, with SEU providing a four-month English-taught program for French students. The international class offers six professional courses in computer science. Additionally, in order to help the French students better understand Chinese history and culture, a dedicated Chinese culture course is also included in the curriculum.
SEU maintains long-term cooperation and exchanges with over ten French universities, including Paris Institute of Technology, Ecole des Ponts ParisTech, CentraleSupélec (CS), Télécom ParisTech, the École Nationale Supérieure d’Arts et Métiers (ENSAM), École Spéciale des Travaux Publics (ESTP), and the University of Rennes etc. Currently, the university is focusing on concrete actions to implement President Xi Jinping’s initiative made during his visit to France in May, which aims to increase the number of French students studying in China to over 10,000 in the next three years. SEU is committed to making significant contributions to Sino-French educational exchange.
