The Temple of Earth Book Fair
As an integral part of the 2024 Beijing Cultural Forum, the Temple of Earth and Me" book fair, a side event of the 2024 Beijing Culture Forum, was unfolded from September 13th to September 23rd. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the Temple of Earth Book Market has evolved into a widely acclaimed and enthusiastically participated mass cultural gathering. There were a rich array of 167 cultural events in this edition of the book market, including the temple of Earth Cultural Lectures and the Mid - Autumn Festival of rich and scholarly fragrance, sparking a surge of reading fever that swept across the capital.
作为2024北京文化论坛配套活动之一，“我与地坛”北京书市于9月13日至9月23日举办。地坛书市始于上世纪九十年代初，是知名度、参与度很高的群众性文化盛事。今年的书市开展了地坛文化讲堂、书香中秋之夜等167场文化活动，掀起首都全民阅读热潮。

This book market has been thoughtfully curated to cater to the diverse reading tastes and requirements of its visitors, centering on four key themes: literature and art, history and culture, children's picture books, and lifestyle and leisure. A captivating theme-based book area is created, really playing up the charm of "wandering down a street, immersing yourself in a theme" "a encounter etched in eternity" debuts a collection of books and creative merchandise under the headings of "life and existence" "time and solitude" "hope and aspiration" and "inspiration and innovation". The history and culture district, with the motif "the urban essence of history," presents an array of ancient texts, Chinese scholarly classics, Chinese-style comic books, and cultural and creative items that reflect Beijing's traditional heritage. The children's picture book district, drawing on the theme "unearthing the book from childhood memories" features beloved classic animations like "Nezha Conquers the Sea" along with engaging interactive experiences, guiding families on a delightful reading adventure brimming with youthful curiosity. The lifestyle and leisure district, themed "Hello, life! Pleased to meet you" showcases a variety of books and products related to travel, wellness, cinema, pets, gastronomy and style. To elevate the reader experience, the book market has established various service stations, included comfortable resting spots, and offered amenities such as light refreshments, coffee, book trolleys, and express shipping. Citizens revel in the gentle sun and shade, browsing and reading, meandering and lingering amidst the vast expanse of literature.
本届书市依据各类读者阅读偏好和不同需求，围绕文学艺术、历史文化、童书绘本、生活休闲四类主题，打造沉浸式专题图书街区，凸显“漫游一条街、阅尽一主题”特色。其中，文学艺术街区，围绕“一场相遇，一生铭记”主题，推出了“生命与生活”“时间与孤独”“希望与梦想”“灵感与创意”等四大专题的图书和文创产品。历史文化街区，以“历史可以很city”为主题，集中展示古籍历史、国学经典、国风漫画等图书和北京传统文化类文创等产品。童书绘本街区，以“寻找童年记忆中的那本书”为主题引入“哪吒闹海”等家喻户晓的经典动画作品和互动体验，带领读者开启一场童心未泯的家庭阅读之旅。生活休闲街区，则以“你好，生活！久仰，幸会”为主题，展销文旅、养生、电影、宠物、美食、穿搭等生活类图书和多元产品。为提升读者服务体验，本届书市设置多处配套服务点，增设便民休憩区，设置简餐、咖啡、购书车、快递等配套服务项目。市民们在煦日树荫下，悠然自得地挑选书籍、沉浸阅读，流连忘返于知识的海洋之中。

在地坛眺望海洋
"Guide me to the Temple of Earth to gaze upon the sea, go under the old trees or next to the neglected weeds or beside the dilapidated walls, sit in silence or think blankly, break through the feelings of chaotic disarray that were all around me, and peep at my soul. " As the venerable scribe Shi Tiesheng has so poetically intoned, in the Temple of Earth, the heart finds tranquility. It was a casual glance from someone that uncovered the shimmering sea waves on the brick wall. The fierce sun pierces through the forest, leaving sparkling light spots on the greenish-black brick wall. Suddenly, as the wind sweeps through the treetops, the fine light and shadow dance on the brick wall, twinkling like ripples on the sea. Since then, the Temple of Earth has retained the enchanting shadow of the sea. Visitors flock here out of admiration, seeking this "sea" of the Temple of Earth, searching for the tranquility of their souls.
“陪我到地坛看一看海，去它的老树下或荒草边或颓墙旁。去默坐，去呆想，去推开耳边的嘈杂，理一理纷乱的思绪，去窥看自己的心魂。”正如作家史铁生所言，在地坛，心都会静下来。不知是哪个人无意的一瞥，发现了砖墙上闪烁的海波。烈日穿林，在青黛色砖墙下留下闪烁的光斑，忽地，风过林梢，细碎的光影在砖墙上星星点点地闪耀起来，恍若粼粼海波纹。从此，地坛便留下了海的魅影。游客们纷纷慕名而来，来寻找地坛的这片海，寻找心灵的宁静。

Encountered the light, beheld the sea, embraced the whispering winds, and felt the earth's vitality, we walk through the ruts left by Tie Sheng's wheelchair, and catch a glimpse of the corners of history. We have breathed the same air as Mr. Shi Tiesheng, felt the warmth and brilliance of the setting sun and gazed upon the same sea. The warmth of Tiesheng continues in new forms in our era. In the Temple of Earth Park, there are two Chinese scholar trees, uniquely adopted with the names "Yuhua's friend Tiesheng" and "Tiesheng's friend Yuhua". In this way, we not only remember the disabled but resolute, thought-provoking Mr. Shi Tiesheng, but also cherish the deep friendship between the two great writers. Moreover, we search for the memories of the Temple of Earth in classic masterpieces. The Book Market, in collaboration with Beijing Publishing Group, has launched a special edition of Mr. Shi Tiesheng's masterpiece: "My Temple of Earth". Old books are the memories of history, while new knowledge is the pulse of the times. Using books as a medium, we connect truth and passion. We believe that the young people who grew up reading Shi Tiesheng will also leave their unique "My Temple of Earth" mark in the same garden.
遇见光，看见海，拥抱和风，体悟地坛生机。走过铁生的车辙，窥见历史的角落。我们与史铁生先生呼吸过同一片空气，感受过落日的温存与绚烂，也看过同一片海。铁生的温度在当代还以新的形式延续着。地坛公园有两颗国槐，值得注意的是他们的认养人的名字，一个叫“余华的朋友铁生”，一个叫“铁生的朋友余华”。通过这种方式，我们不仅在缅怀身残志坚，但思想深邃的史铁生先生，也在感念着两位伟大作家的深挚友谊。此外，我们也在经典名著中寻找地坛的回忆。书市联合北京出版集团推出史铁生先生的名著：《我与地坛》典藏版。旧书是历史的记忆，新知是时代的脉搏，以书为媒，连接真理和热爱。我们相信，读着史铁生长大的年轻人，也会在同一个园子里留下独特的“我与地坛”印记。
