the streets and alleys, a solemn festival approaches us.
The fragrance of zongzi fills the kitchen;
the fragrance of Ai leaves permeates the house.
端午临仲夏，时清日复长。端午节又称端阳节、龙舟节、重五节等，日期在每年的农历五月初五，是我国四大传统节日之一。是集拜神祭祖、祈福辟邪、欢庆娱乐和饮食为一体的民族大节。又近一年端午时，情浓粽飘香，国际部的小朋友们在端午时节都举办了什么庆端午的活动呢？
The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duan Yang Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, or Double Fifth Festival, falls on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month each year and is one of the four major traditional festivals in China. It is a national festival that combines worshiping gods and ancestors, praying for blessings and warding off evil spirits, celebrating and entertaining, and enjoying traditional food. As the Dragon Boat Festival approaches this year, with the aroma of zongzi in the air, what activities did the children in the International Department hold to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival?
故事导入《小粽子、小粽子》
Story Introduction: "Little Zongzi, Little Zongzi"
故事是很好的活动导入方式。在开始端午节活动前，我们一起阅读了绘本《小粽子，小粽子》。这个故事和甜粽子、咸粽子有关。我们发现粽子要穿一层绿色的粽叶衣服，粽子肚子里面包着不同的馅料，有蛋黄粽、火腿粽、红枣粽、豆沙粽等等。这些粽子为了自己好吃不好吃而争吵了起来，最后它们一起划了龙舟。
Story telling is a great way to introduce activities. Before starting the Dragon Boat Festival activities, we read the picture book "Little Zongzi, Little Zongzi" together. This story is related to sweet and savory zongzi. We discover that zongzi wears a layer of green leaf clothing and contains different fillings such as salted egg yolk, ham, red dates, and bean paste. These zongzi argued about whether they tasted good or not but eventually they all rowed the dragon boat together.

Making Zongzi
从故事中，我们知道了端午节要包粽子，于是小朋友们一起包粽子啦。大家知道了包粽子的流程：把粽叶抓在手里，往里面装上了糯米和豆沙，把粽叶包好，扎上绳子，就做好啦！最后，把粽子煮熟了，一起尝了尝粽子的味道！
通过此次活动让小朋友们了解和认识端午节。同时通过学包粽子，提高幼儿的动手能力。让传统民俗文化的种子在孩子们的心里生根发芽。
From the story, we learned that zongzi should be made during the Dragon Boat Festival, so the children in the International Department made zongzi together. We learned the process of making zongzi: hold the zong leaves in your hand, fill them with glutinous rice and bean paste, wrap the leaves tightly, and tie them with strings. Finally, we cooked the zongzi and tasted their flavors together!
Through this activity, the children learned about and became familiar with the Dragon Boat Festival. By learning to make zongzi, they also improved their hands-on skills. Letting the seeds of traditional folk culture take root and sprout in the hearts of children.

Origin of the Dragon Boat Festival
K3班级使用了分级阅读教材，学习了端午节的传说，了解端午节的由来。孩子们知道了端午节来源于屈原的传说：战国时期的楚国诗人屈原在五月初五跳汨罗江，后人亦将端午节作为纪念屈原的节日。
Class K3 used graded reading materials and learned about the legends and origins of the Dragon Boat Festival. The children learned that the Dragon Boat Festival originated from the legend of Qu Yuan, a poet from the State of Chu during the Warring States period, who drowned himself in the Miluo River on the fifth day of the fifth month. Later, the Dragon Boat Festival became a holiday to commemorate Qu Yuan.

Making Fragrance Pouches
佩香囊，是端午节传统习俗之一，端午节小孩佩香囊，不但有辟邪驱瘟之意，而且有襟头点缀之用。这些香囊可以提神醒脑，振奋精神，舒筋顺气。
在国际部，小朋友们体验了端午节的香包习俗。端午节出游的时候蚊虫很多，我们需要做香包来防蚊虫。小朋友们认识了两种蚊虫不喜欢的植物味道：艾草和薰衣草；由此知道了植物可以有很多用途。制作香包，我们要先给香包做装饰，放入艾草和薰衣草，最后封口。小朋友们都可以认真地聆听香包的制作过程，并独立地进行香包的制作。
Wearing fragrance pouches is one of the traditional customs of the Dragon Boat Festival. Children wear fragrance pouches during the festival, not only to ward off evil spirits and diseases but also as a decorative accessory. These fragrance pouches can invigorate the mind, uplift the spirits, and promote good health.
In the International Department, the children experienced the custom of making fragrance pouches for the Dragon Boat Festival. During outings on the festival, there are often many mosquitoes, so we need fragrance pouches to repel them. The children learned about two scents that mosquitoes dislike: mugwort and lavender, and realized that plants can have many uses. To make fragrance pouches, we first decorated them, then added mugwort and lavender, and finally sealed them. The children attentively listened to the process of making fragrance pouches and made them independently.
敲大鼓，唱歌谣
Beating Drums and Singing Nursery Rhymes
K2 小朋友们在学习和讨论了端午节的传统习俗，包粽子，挂香包，学习了端午歌谣“五月五，是端午，划龙舟，敲大鼓，一二三四五，你包粽子，我跳舞（敲鼓）”。孩子们自行改编歌谣创编，把部分内容替换成身边的事物，一起开开心心唱歌谣！
The children in K2 learned about and discussed the traditional customs of the Dragon Boat Festival, such as making zongzi, hanging fragrance pouches, and learned the Dragon Boat Festival nursery rhyme: "On the fifth day of May, it's the Dragon Boat Festival, rowing dragon boats, beating drums, one, two, three, four, five, you make zongzi, I dance (beat the drum)." The children created their own versions of the nursery rhyme, replacing some parts with things around them, and happily sang the nursery rhyme together!

Weaving Colorful Ropes
五彩绳，又称五彩丝、五色丝等，汉族节日习俗，一般在端午节佩戴五色丝线以辟邪，兼有祈福纳吉的美好寓意。五彩绳源于我国古代的五行观念演变而来。传到后世，五色丝即发展成许多种漂亮饰物，制作也日趋精致，成为端午节特有的民间艺品。
在国际部，我们简化了五彩丝线复杂的编织过程，让小朋友们用小手亲手编织自己的小彩绳，亲身体验五彩绳的编织乐趣，以及其祈福纳吉的寓意。小朋友们用扭扭棒进行替代彩绳，将几种颜色的扭扭棒扭在一起，就制好了自己的简易版彩绳！戴上自己编织寓意吉祥的彩绳，小朋友们成就感满满！
Colorful ropes, also known as five-color threads or five-color silk, are a traditional custom of the Han ethnic group during festivals. They are often worn during the Dragon Boat Festival to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck. The concept of five-color ropes originated from the ancient Chinese theory of the five elements. Over time, the five-color threads developed into various beautiful decorations and became a unique folk craft of the Dragon Boat Festival.
In the International Department, we simplified the complex weaving process of the five-color threads and let the children weave their own small ropes with their hands, experiencing the joy of weaving colorful ropes and the auspicious meaning they represent. The children used twist sticks as a substitute for the colorful threads, twisting several colors together to make their own simplified version of the colorful rope! Wearing the self-woven ropes symbolizing auspiciousness, the children felt a great sense of accomplishment!
通过各式各样的端午节庆祝活动，国际部的孩子们更好地了解和传承传统文化。孩子们亲身感受传统文化的魅力，培养了爱国情感和文化自信。

艾蒿一束，飘幸福清香，
龙舟一盏，载顺利清风，
“粽"有千般好，唯你最“粽"要。

Through various Dragon Boat Festival celebration activities, the children in theInternational Department gained a deeper understanding of the customs and traditions associated with this festival. By actively participating in these activities, the children not only had fun but also developed their creativity, fine motor skills, and cultural awareness. They learned about the different aspects of the festival and gained a sense of pride in their cultural heritage.
