Martha Stewart's former prison "best friend," Lisa Guarino, has publicly criticized the celebrity for failing to honor a $1 million payment promise made during their incarceration in the early 2000s.

According to Guarino, Stewart expressed deep gratitude for having her as a friend in prison and vowed to give her the million-dollar payment upon her release.

Guarino revealed to the Daily Mail that Stewart had assured her family they no longer needed to send money to her account as she would take care of her.

However, when Guarino was transferred to another facility, she discovered that her account was empty.

In June 2003, Martha Stewart faced a dual legal battle, encompassing both criminal and civil charges, stemming from her sale of nearly 4,000 ImClone shares in December 2001.

On June 4th of that year, the Securities and exchange Commission (SEC) filed a civil lawsuit against Stewart and her stockbroker, Peter Bacanovic, accusing them of securities fraud through illegal insider trading.
