灵枢·五十营 Miraculous Pivot·Fifty Circulations
黄帝曰：余愿闻五十营奈何？The Yellow Emperor said: I would like to hear about what the Fifty Circulations are like.
黄帝说：我想了解经脉之气在体内运行五十个周次的情况。
岐伯答曰：天周二十八宿，宿三十六分；Qi Bo replied: There are twenty-eight constellations in the celestial sphere, and each constellation is divided into thirty-six parts.
岐伯回答说，周天有二十八星宿，每个星宿之间的距离是三十六分。
人气行一周，千八分，日行二十八宿。When the qi in a person circulates once, it travels one thousand and eight parts, while the sun travels through twenty-eight constellations.
人体的经脉之气一昼夜运行五十次，合一千八百分。在一昼夜中，太阳的运行周历了二十八星宿。
人经脉上下、左右、前后二十八脉，周身十六丈二尺，以应二十八宿。There are twenty-eight meridians in a person, running up and down, left and right, front and back. The total length of the meridians throughout the body is sixteen zhang and two chi, corresponding to the twenty-eight constellations.
分布在人体上下、左右、前后的经脉，有二十八条，周身经脉的长度是十六丈二尺，与二十八星宿相对应。
漏水下百刻，以分昼夜。The water in the clepsydra drips down one hundred marks, dividing day and night.
用刻漏（计时工具）的水滴下一百刻为标准来划分昼夜，计算经气在经脉中运行所需的时间。
故人一呼脉再动，气行三寸；（一吸脉亦再动，气行三寸，）呼吸定息，气行六寸。Therefore, when a person exhales once, the pulse beats twice and the qi travels three cun; (When a person inhales once, the pulse also beats twice and the qi travels three cun.) When the breathing is at rest, the qi travels six cun.
人一呼气，脉跳动两次，经气运行三寸；一吸气，脉又跳动两次，经气又运行三寸，一个呼吸过程，经气运行六寸。
十息，气行六尺，日行二分。After ten breaths, the qi travels six chi, and the sun travels two fen.
十次呼吸，经气运行六尺，太阳运行二分。
二百七十息，气行十六丈二尺，气行交通于中，一周于身，下水二刻，日行二十五分。After two hundred and seventy breaths, the qi travels sixteen zhang and two chi. The qi circulates throughout the body and reaches a state of communication within. Two marks of water have dripped down in the clepsydra, and the sun has traveled twenty-five fen.
二百七十次呼吸，经气运行十六丈零二尺，其间气行上下，贯通八脉，运行一周，水滴下二刻，太阳运行了二十五分。
五百四十息，气行再周于身，下水四刻，日行四十分。After five hundred and forty breaths, the qi circulates twice around the body. Four marks of water have dripped down in the clepsydra, and the sun has traveled forty fen.
五百四十次呼吸，脉气在全身运行两周，水下四刻，太阳运行四十分。
二千七百息，气行十周于身，下水二十刻，日行五宿二十分。After two thousand seven hundred breaths, the qi circulates ten times around the body. Twenty marks of water have dripped down in the clepsydra, and the sun has traveled through five constellations and twenty fen.
二千七百次呼吸，经气运行十次，水下二十刻，太阳运行五个星宿零二十分。
一万三千五百息，气行五十营于身，水下百刻，日行二十八宿，漏水皆尽，脉终矣。After thirteen thousand five hundred breaths, the qi circulates fifty times around the body. All one hundred marks of water in the clepsydra have dripped down, the sun has traveled through twenty-eight constellations, and the dripping of water in the clepsydra is completed, and the circulation of the pulse comes to an end.
一万三千五百次呼吸，经气在体内运行五十周次，水滴下一百刻，太阳运行遍二十八星宿，刻漏里的水都滴漏尽了，经气也正好运行五十个周次。
所谓交通者，并行一数也。The so-called state of communication means that the numbers are concurrent.
前面所谈经气的相互交通，就是指经气在二十八脉运行一周。
故五十营备，得尽天地之寿矣，（气）凡行八百一十丈也。Therefore, when the Fifty Circulations are complete, one can enjoy the full lifespan of heaven and earth. (The qi) travels a total of eight hundred and ten zhang.
如果人的经气保持一昼夜运行五十个周次，人就能够享尽天然的寿命。经气在人体运行五十周次的总长度是八百一十丈。
