Join us for the English Teacher Roundtable on December 5th, 2024, hosted by the Regional English Language Office of the U.S. Embassy in China. Led by the English Language Specialist, Matthew Jellick, the event will take place from 14:00 to 15:30, offering a valuable opportunity for English educators to explore Constructively Utilizing AI in the Classroom.
This free event welcomes English teachers across all educational levels, teacher researchers, and university students majoring in English. Limited to 25 participants, registration is mandatory and operates on a first-come, first-served basis.

Topic: Constructively Utilizing AI in the Classroom
Properly harnessing AI in the classroom can help promote student learning while at the same time, allowing educators different approaches to teaching. In this seminar, we will discuss the latest trends regarding AI, including key components, integration practices, and the who, when, and why of where AI is going with regards to educational implementation, and its positive and negative effects on both students and teachers.
Trainer Bio
Matthew Jellick holds a master’s degree in teaching from the University of Southern California (USC) and has been teaching internationally since 2009. A former English Language Fellow (Ethiopia: 2014 – 2016) and English Language Specialist (Djibouti: 2022, 2023), Mr. Jellick likewise has extensive experience in China and has taught at the university level here for seven years, in both Shenzhen, and currently, in Beijing. Working both inside as well as outside the classroom, Matthew has presented at conferences in Asia, Africa, and America, with a focus on teacher development and how we can transmit good practice so that it continually benefits students. Matthew works under the motto that “Learning is Lifelong and Worldwide”.

You must bring both your valid photo ID and registration confirmation in order to get into the BAC. Copies or pictures of IDs will not be accepted. Large bags and laptops will not be allowed into BAC for this event. Portable electronic devices, such as mobile phones, iPads and other tablets, and smartwatches are allowed to get in the BAC. Please wait in line at the East Gate of the embassy.
