A number of high-profile incidents have shined a spotlight on minor misbehavior in China’s countryside. 一些备受瞩目的事件让人们关注到中国农村小的不当行为。spotlight表示聚光灯。shine类似于cast, throw, put这种投射光线的动作，把灯光打到一个地方，大家的注意力会聚集于此。故shine a spotlight on表示「让人注意到，凸显出…问题」
shine的过去式和过去分词有两种形式，shined和shone，注意辨识。该表达类似于attract one’s attention。也可以与emphasize, highlight替换使用。
比如Developed countries’ experience with COVID-19 has shone a spotlight on one of the great failings, the lack of health equity.发达国家在新冠疫情方面的经历让人们注意到一大缺陷，即缺乏健康公平。the spotlight表示媒体和公众的注意。in the spotlight在聚光灯下，即「受到关注」；sth put/turn the spotlight on sth某物使人们的目光关注到…问题上。

句中A为a mix of underdeveloped social and economic conditions in rural areas，B为inadequate supervision and support from adults. a mix of表示「一种综合」，即social和economic conditions共同综合到一起作为原因A
